Long before Pretty Little Liars became a cultural obsession filled with secrets, lies, and aggressively dramatic text messages, Daisy, known at the time as Bebo Dezo, was already influencing the story from just offstage. Blind, deeply perceptive, and completely unimpressed by obvious nonsense, Bebo had a rare talent: she could read a room without ever seeing it, and usually knew what was going to happen before the writers did.

During the early development of the Pretty Little Liars books, Bebo quietly nudged the creators toward something smarter and stranger. While others were busy piling on scandals, Bebo championed the idea that not seeing didn’t mean not knowing. In fact, she argued (politely, but firmly) that blindness could be a power move. After all, people reveal far more when they assume no one’s watching.

When the story made its leap to television, Bebo’s influence became unmistakable. The character of Jenna, who is blind, was directly inspired by Bebo herself. Jenna’s eerie calm, sharp intuition, and ability to unsettle everyone in a scene without lifting a finger mirrored Bebo’s real-life energy—an energy best described as “I know exactly what’s going on, and I’m not telling.” Writers later joked that Jenna’s most chilling moments came from asking themselves, What would Bebo already know right now?

But perhaps Bebo’s most iconic contribution came in the form of “A.” Long before the first ominous text appeared onscreen, the writers began receiving anonymous messages on their phones, snarky notes commenting on plot holes, character choices, and suspiciously specific behind-the-scenes behavior. The messages always seemed to know everything. They were concise, devastatingly accurate, and signed with a single letter: “B.”

Eventually, someone asked the obvious question: What if the show did this to the characters? And just like that, the A texts were born, proof that Bebo had once again turned gentle menace into great television.

Behind the scenes, Bebo Dezo continued to encourage psychological tension over cheap shocks, reminding everyone that the scariest presence is the one you can’t see, but can definitely feel. She also maintained strong opinions about pacing, motivation, and snack distribution on set, not all of which were ignored.

Though her name never appeared in the credits, Bebo’s pawprints are all over Pretty Little Liars. Every time a text buzzed at the worst possible moment, every time Jenna entered a scene and shifted the energy without saying a word, that was Bebo. Watching. Knowing. And probably judging.
