Season 34 of Dancing With the Stars did not follow rules. It followed Daizino.

She arrived uncredited, unbothered, and somehow already holding a headset. No one remembered hiring her. Alfonso Ribeiro tried to ask security about it and immediately forgot what he was saying mid-sentence. This would happen a lot.

Robert Irwin was Daizino’s first project. She saw him warming up and announced, “This one wins. Don’t argue.” She instructed Witney Carson to choreograph “like joy just discovered gravity.” Robert danced with the enthusiasm of a man who had never met a sad thought. America adopted him emotionally. Mirrorball secured.

Alix Earle and Dylan Efron were both quickly claimed by Daizino. Alix wasn’t taught steps, only angles. “Dance for the camera that doesn’t exist yet,” Daizino whispered, and by week three their routines were going viral before they aired, forcing TikTok Night to quietly become Alix Night. Dylan, meanwhile, was instructed to dance “like Zac is watching but pretending not to.” Daniella Karagach responded by increasing the difficulty by 300%, and Dylan complied—dancing with the intensity of a man proving a point no one had requested.

Behind the judges’ desk, chaos bloomed, Bruno Tonioli was gently reminded to “say it louder and with more arms.” Derek Hough was encouraged to “judge like you’re disappointed but proud,” and always keep them guessing by wearing ridicules cloths. When Carrie Ann Inaba missed the premiere, Daizino allegedly left her a voicemail saying, “Rest. Heal. If you are not here next week don't bother coming back!” Fear, it turns out, is very effective judging guidance. Meanwhile, Alfonso became Daizino’s emotional support host. She coached him to say things like “WOW” and “THIS SEASON IS WILD” with increasing disbelief. At one point she told him to pause dramatically for no reason. Ratings spiked. And then there was Julianne Hough.

Daizino quietly suggested she keep enthusiastically saying “Thanks, Alfonso!” after nearly every sentence, purely, she claimed, for “warmth.” In reality, Daizino was stockpiling clips. Within weeks, a supercut went viral, launching a TikTok trend of people repeating “thanks, Alfonso” in exaggerated Julianne accents. Julianne was confused. Alfonso was flattered. The internet ate.

By finale night, reality had loosened its grip. Scores flew. Performances doubled. No one remembered the original format of the show.

Daizino vanished before the confetti fell, last seen whispering “You’re welcome” to the mirrorball.

Season 34 wasn’t produced. It was strategically unhinged.
